Scuba Tanks
Scuba tanks are the heart and lungs of the diver. Without
an oxygen tank, diving for extended periods of time would not be possible.
Most quality tanks will be made from either aluminum or steel.
Steel scuba tanks are ideal for carrying a large amount of air at low
pressure. High pressure steel tanks are also available. Steel tanks
also have the advantage of being heavier, and therefore do not require
counterbalance weights when diving.
Aluminum scuba tanks are probably the most commonly found at scuba
resorts throughout the world. These tanks are lighter than steel tanks,
which makes them easier to carry. However, because they are lighter,
they usually require a weight belt to counteract their buoyancy.
